After 4 years of living mostly outside, we will move indoors to an apartment. Our move out of Magnolia into centrally heated rooms in downtown Burlington reflects a need of ours to refocus and re-arrange the stuff of daily life. Keeping the evolving landscape of needs, wants, hopes, heart, mind, spirit, visions and dreams aligned has been a very luscious part of living a nomadic life. This summer has led us to make a decision to settle, to stay put, to winter over. It may be as simple as an overly rainy summer, or it may be as unsimple and ongoing as circles having been completed (orbis perfectus) and new ones beginning.

Zpora graduated on Friday from Smith College's social work program. She was forced to postpone this 3 year project for one year when she was first diagnosed with cancer, though all but 1 year was done concurrent with chemotherapy. She now has an MSW after her name and a cancer free song in her heart.
This attic space will replace Magnolia for our sleeping room. It is filled with light and interesting texture and what my friend Rebekah calls "dimensionality." We painted everything white partly for economy but also to encourage the outside to come in.

Our Vermont berth has been in a beautiful open field overlooking Camel's Hump and Mt. Mansfield. The rain may have dampened our spirits from time to time, but not entirely. We made homemade pasta and invited friends to share it. Here's Andy rolling it through a simple hand-powered machine and hanging it on the clothesline to rest.

The screen tent is beginning to show some wear and tear but has still provided a fine work and hangout space that [mostly!] is mosquito free. We'll soon be saying goodbye to our nomadic life - at least for a little while. What happens when nomads settle? I hope our daily life will still be within the beauty of nature.
